There are currently two vacant PAAC regional representative positions.

The Premiers’ Aboriginal Advisory Council (PAAC) provides the Victorian Government with high level policy advice on Indigenous policy and issues impacting Indigenous Victorians. PAAC provides an opportunity for Victoria’s Aboriginal community to engage with the State Government at its most senior levels, with the Premier, Deputy Premier and the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs members of the Council. The PAAC supplements existing Indigenous consultative arrangements in other portfolios and broad-based community consultations on specific initiatives.

All Local Indigenous Networks are now formed and Regional Indigenous Councils are planned to be in place by mid 2010. Interim arrangements have been established to allow for Indigenous representation on PAAC prior to the establishment of Regional Indigenous Councils.

Department of Premier and Cabinet provides support to the Premier in his role as chair of the Premier’s Aboriginal Advisory Council.
